Programme Outline for 2019
January 15th 7.30pm
A social evening and time to relax and get back together after all the Christmas and New Year
festivities. Silly games, cards, a good chat and a bring and share supper.
February 19th 7.30pm
Gemology – a talk by Ann Parke
Ann lives locally but has worked with some of the country’s most interesting gems and jewels. She
will talk all about them but also look at any items of jewellery members or guests would like to

The Work of Cancer Research
Julie George from Cancer Research UK will be talking to us about the work of the charity and how
gifts and donations are used and the impact these have on current and future research
April 16th 7.30pm
The Work of Midwives in Uganda – a talk by Jane Roberts and colleague
Jane and her colleague have spent many years working as volunteer midwives in Uganda. They will
be showing a presentation of their work and authentic African souvenirs.

Pam’s Chilli Zoo
A talk by Pam Davenport on her many travels and her search for and use of a very wide variety of

Flower Arranging with Jayne Griffiths
Jayne works as the community liaison point with Tesco’s in Llandrindod Wells. Tesco are kindly
donating the flowers and Jane, a professional florist, will be demonstrating their arrangement.
July 16th 7.30pm
Jim Budd’s Stained Glass Workshop
A short trip to the workshop of local stained glass artisan, Jim Budd, followed by our usual meeting
and refreshments back at Gladestry Village Hall.
Summer Outing to Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway.
September 17th 7.30pm
Harts of Monmouth Lingerie
A talk and demonstration of lingerie and sundry underwear by the girls from Harts of Monmouth.
October 15th 7.30pm
Christmas Felting with Jenny Keal
A workshop during which members can make a felted Christmas tree decoration.
